Your first step takes place at Beginnings. Unlike your day-to-day role at your facility, office, or remote work environment, on this day you’ll be attending and participating in our in-person Beginnings, the Northwell orientation for all new hires.
It begins at Beginnings
Beginnings, Northwell’s orientation for new hires, is where you’ll:
- Meet Michael Dowling, our President and CEO, or another senior executive
- Learn about working here and what makes us Fair360’s #1 Hospital and Health System for workplace fairness, equity and inclusion
- Meet Sven Gierlinger, our Chief Experience Officer, and learn about our Culture of C.A.R.E.
- Have an opportunity to meet and network with other new team members

What to expect at Beginnings
Welcome Session: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
This live, interactive session presents Northwell’s culture, mission, values, and vision — as well as Michael Dowling, Northwell Health’s President and CEO and one of health care’s most influential voices.
To create a more personal experience, you’ll join breakout sessions to discuss Northwell’s values, decide what to ask Michael Dowling, and meet and network with your fellow new team members. You also will hear from Sven Gierlinger about the reason why we chose to work in health care: our commitment to our patients and their families.
