Program duration: 12 months

Our Fellowship Program is geared toward PAs and NPs who wish to obtain the advanced knowledge and technical skills necessary to become competent, confident and compassionate healthcare providers who practice to the very top of their licensure.

- Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- Primary Care
- Primary Care with specialty focus on either Bone Metabolism, Endocrinology, or Rheumatology
- Transplant Hepatology
Program Goals
The goal of our Fellowship Program is to provide PAs and NPs with the opportunity to learn and train in a structured, mentored, and protected environment making the transition to practice a rewarding experience. We embrace a “train to retain” philosophy and maintain an exemplary retention rate of our graduates. We strive to craft providers who function at the top of their license, provide exemplary patient care and do so in a professional, ethical, and sensitive manner. Our goal is to identify future leaders by providing career growth opportunities for those who aspire to advance and uphold the system’s mission and vision for future generations.
Program Structure
Regardless of which specialty track you pursue; all accepted Fellowship providers will attend a specially designed orientation and welcoming experience built upon our unique foundational pillar system of learning. You will learn the essentials on how to navigate and function within our healthcare system while developing a strong acumen of core clinical knowledge and professional development skills. As you begin training within your chosen track, a series of interprofessional learning activities will be held monthly that are specifically designed to augment your career growth and development. Fellows from all tracks will reconvene for these activities which will include lectures, case study analysis, procedural skills training, simulation lab experiences, cadaver lab classes, ultrasound training and more.

- 250-word essay describing why you would like to apply to our Fellowship Program and what you hope to gain from the experience
- Most recent, unofficial copy of your school transcript
- Three (3) Letters of recommendation
Program Requirements
To avoid potential delay in your onboarding process, please be prepared to provide Northwell with the following, if accepted into the Fellowship Program:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited PA/NP education program
- PAs must have NCCPA National Board Certification
- PAs and NPs must have a valid New York State license.
- NPs must have national board certification, which vary based on specialty track
- NPs must have current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification
- Infection Control certificate
- Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Course
- DEA or DEA Waiver
Specialty Track Certification Requirements:
Physician Assistants: All PAs require NCCPA Board Certification for all specialty tracks.
Nurse Practitioners: Please refer to the table below for specific specialty track certification requirements for NPs.

Please note: If you are an NP and are interested in a Fellowship track that requires dual certification or RNFA certification please contact us. DEA Registration: Not all specialty tracks require DEA registration. Prior to obtaining your DEA, please inquire with program leadership.
For those specialty tracks that DO NOT require a DEA registration a waiver form will be provided during the onboarding process.
