Welcoming Veterans and Active Service Members to apply for Northwell Health’s South Shore University Hospital Train & Earn Nurse Attendant Program
Northwell Health’s South Shore University Hospital is proud to offer a paid comprehensive training program, in partnership with our Military Liaison Services Department, to support veterans and active service members who are looking to advance their career as a nurse attendant. This six-to-eight-week, on-the-job, paid training program will prepare eligible veterans and active service members.

Train & Earn Nurse Attendant Program overview:
Northwell Health is honored to support veterans and active service members throughout our communities by providing them with an opportunity to jump-start a career as a nurse attendant.
Program details:
- This on-the-job, paid training program begins on Thursday, July 25, 2024, and takes place in-person, for six-to-eight (6-8) weeks. During this time, you will earn $21.57 per hour/40 hours per week for the full 6-8-week training period.
- The training format of the course includes both didactic and experiential learning as a nurse attendant.
- Upon successful completion of the Train & Earn Nurse Attendant Program, each participant has an opportunity to be promoted to a permanent Northwell employee, working as a nurse attendant. You must remain in this role for at least one year at Northwell Health.

Eligibility requirements and program commitments*:
Our training program is for veterans and service members who:
- Have earned a state-endorsed high school diploma or HSE/TASC (formerly GED certificate).
- Pass a background check.
- Provide an employment commitment to work as a nurse attendant at Northwell for at least one year, following successful completion of the program.
*Applicants must meet the criteria above to be eligible for the Train & Earn Nurse Attendant Program for veterans and active service members.

Each applicant can use the below steps as a guide throughout the training program application process.
- STEP 1: Submit your resume to apply via the link above for the Train & Earn Nurse Attendant Program by Friday, May 31, 2024.
- STEP 2: Qualified candidates will be contacted by a member of the Northwell Health team.
- STEP 3: Final candidates will be invited to an in-person interview at a designated date and time.
- STEP 4: Candidates will be notified of acceptance by Monday, June 17, 2024.
