This course will dive deep into the individual professional development and support roles that are present in our lives and work environment. In this module, you’ll gain insight on the differences and similarities of roles like an advisor, a mentor, a sponsor, a coach and more. After finishing this course, you should be more knowledgeable about the different roles present in your professional network and about the opportunities that involve them.

Northwell has many opportunities to further your nursing education, including tuition reimbursement, the Center for Learning and Innovation, among many other programs. This session will be helpful whether you are an experienced nurse looking to go back to school or an associate’s prepared nurse looking for the next steps on the road to obtaining your BSN. This course will help you improve your personal brand as you strive toward career growth. The course will cover what recruiters and hiring managers look for in a resume and on an interview and discuss the importance of internal networking and how to do it appropriately and successfully.

Exploring Alternate Nursing Career Paths

There are many career paths to take beyond the traditional areas of specialization. During this session you will hear from panelists who will discuss a variety of nursing roles, including case management, quality management, revenue cycle, information technology, home care and more.

Exploring Clinical Areas of Specialization Panel

Explore the many different clinical areas of specialization, including critical care, perioperative, behavioral health, women’s health, oncology, emergency and more. Learn the next steps you need to take to get there, including fellowships and other programs at Northwell. During this session you will hear from experienced nurses and nurse leaders who advanced their careers by specializing, as well as from nurses who graduated within the past two years as to when the timing is right to pursue an area of specialization.

Office Hours available

In case you missed one of our career coaching opportunities, you can still sign up for office hours for your location. During these sessions you will be able to: discuss your resume and personal brand building, create a career development plan, prepare for career conversations with a leader or team member, and review the tools and resources on the Internal Careers Portal. You’ll also be able to inquire about our mentorship and fellowship programs.
