A Journey Through Learning and Career Growth: Meet Tiana, Assistant Nurse Manager, Emergency Department
At Northwell Health, our nurse leadership team works to demonstrate their commitment to care by incorporating innovative thinking into their practice and consistently delivering excellence in ways that elevate the healthcare experience. Read on to learn more about Tiana Vincuillo, one of Northwell’s dedicated assistant nurse managers in Plainview Hospital’s emergency department.
Tiana started her career journey at Northwell Health in 2019 as a student nurse extern at Glen Cove Hospital. As a student nurse extern, she worked with a registered nurse in the emergency department to gain early exposure to what working as a nurse in the ER is like. While in her externship program, she assisted with lifesaving interventions. Once her externship was over, Tiana was offered a position as a patient care associate (PCA) at Glen Cove Hospital. As a PCA, Tiana worked side by side with nurses to assist patients with daily activities with the goal of enhancing the patient experience. This led her to her next role in 2020 as a nurse fellow in Glen Cove Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
As a nursing fellow, Tiana underwent extensive specialty training, including simulation scenarios for six months. This allowed her to get even more insight into what it is like working as a registered nurse. This insight was a gateway for Tiana into what nursing was about, and in 2023, she took on the role of registered nurse in Plainview Hospital’s emergency department. In this position, Tiana utilized her skills gained from the ICU and learned more about the emergency department to enhance her time management skills.
Two years later, Tiana took another step in her career journey and began working in her current role as an assistant nurse manager at the same site. As an assistant nurse manager, Tiana manages the day-to-day operations of the emergency room, is responsible for all staff, and oversees documentation while working to enhance her leadership skills. To enhance these skills, Tiana recently joined Northwell’s leadership mentorship program, which assists new leaders in their transition and growth within their new position.
“I am glad to be connected with other leaders who love to teach, support and guide new leaders like me. I am thankful that the leadership team has instilled confidence in me to achieve my goals,” said Tiana. Her training and career development was supported by her leaders. “I love that there are so many opportunities and room for growth for all Northwell team members,” said Tiana.
