Job Description
To work in the pharmacy under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and assist in those pharmacy activities which do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. Work areas to include but are not limited to unit dose filling, repackaging, maintenance of inventory, filling stock requests.
Job Responsibility
- Repackages and labels both non-sterile and sterile products, including extemporaneously compounded doses, as instructed by the pharmacist.
- Utilizes aseptic techniques for the preparation of all sterile products to ensure patient safety and compliance.
- Stocks automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell) based on daily inventory reports and troubleshoots system discrepancies.
- Optimizes inventory by applying FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) protocols to ensure short-dated items are used first and waste is minimized.
- Performs bulk unit-dose repackaging and ensures all items are accurately barcoded for system compatibility.
- Manages KitCheck and Code Carts by using RFID technology to scan, replenish and prepare for verification.
- Conducts rigorous inspections of all work areas and dispensing units to identify and remove outdated or damaged medications.
- Empty patient bins upon discharge and return to pharmacy bins in all units
- Maintains inventory control across all work areas, including completing reorder forms and receiving deliveries from wholesalers and vendors ensuring DSCSA compliance.
- Manages central supplies, including the requisition of stock, maintenance of IV solution inventory, and secure delivery of medical alcohol.
- Ensures work area cleanliness by following routine sanitization schedules for sterile hoods and surfaces and adhering to appropriate disposal procedures.
- Monitors par levels using system data to prevent stockouts and improve medication availability throughout the facility.
- Provides operational agility by covering sick calls, vacant positions, and workload adjustments during emergencies or special projects.
- Delivers medications and supplies to clinical units in a timely and professional manner.
- Performs related duties as required to support the pharmacy’s daily operations and regulatory compliance.
- Epic (Willow) Operations: under the directions of pharmacist.
Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.
- Completion of a technician training program required.
- NYS Licensed Pharmacy Technician, required
- Two years of Technician experience required.
- Sterile product preparation experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

The salary range for this position is $32.67-$32.67/hour.
