Works collaboratively with other investigators to facilitate their scientific research and training. Participates in various types of institute and community activities.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoc in Speech-Language Pathology. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a leading research team at the forefront of transforming healthcare for older adults, particularly those with Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) and oropharyngeal dysphagia (OD). The Postdoc will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of geriatricians, hospitalists, SLPs, biostatisticians, and data scientists. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our NIH-funded research portfolio, supporting dynamic program initiatives, and developing their own independent research program focused on dysphagia in aging.
Job Responsibility
- Performs research projects as directed; follows and adheres to experimental protocols in a proficient and meticulous manner.
- Responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of research data related to specific project.
- Submits manuscripts and abstracts for publication to peer review journals and presentations at local, national and international conferences.
- Performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, correspondence, attending meetings, database maintenance, maintaining records, charts, etc.
- Responsible for all other activities, clinical and administrative, as needed.
- Provides technical direction to research staff.
- Operates with direct guidance and work assignments are generally straightforward and of moderate complexity.

Preferred skills:
- Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related field (e.g., Communication Sciences and Disorders, Rehabilitation Science).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
- Active New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license or eligibility for immediate licensure.
- High level of motivation, independence, and commitment to a career in research and clinical practice.
- Strong interest in aging, dementia, and oropharyngeal dysphagia
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of scientific writing (e.g., publications, presentations).
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of oropharyngeal dysphagia, particularly in adult/geriatric populations.
- Clinical experience with hospitalized older adults or individuals with dementia.
- Demonstrated research experience, including quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies, and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python).
- Prior experience in grant writing or contributions to grant proposals.
- Expertise in instrumental dysphagia assessments (MBSS/FEES) administration and interpretation, including experience with scoring protocols (e.g., MBSImP, PAS, IDDSI-FDS, DIGEST).
Job Qualification
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy required.
- 0-1 years of relevant experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $58540.00-$92650.00/year.
