Job Description
Maintains the Trauma Registry Database, including clinical case review, data retrieval and collection, statistics, analysis, and presentation of internal and external data. Collaborates with the leadership in identifying and trending quality issues.
Job Responsibility
- Provides concurrent and retrospective patient tracking using data abstraction on all Trauma Registry Candidates.
- Identifies all trauma admissions, transfers, and deaths, using clinical identifiers and strict inclusion/exclusion criteria defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
- Retrieves trauma data through downloads from trauma data sources.
- Abstracts clinical information based on guidelines from ACS, including the identification of all injuries, procedures, complications, and outcomes.
- Maintains a system for data integrity to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and completeness of the database.
- Collects, reviews, and analyzes trauma data to provide reports of trauma statistics and quality improvement filters.
- Prepares quarterly, regional, Quality Reports including Trauma – Injury Severity Score (TRISS) Cases, transfers, and death cases, and any indicator screen variances.
- Generates Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Forms on cases requiring review; assists in preparing timeliness for Medical Case Reviews.
- Performs final retrospective review of specific aspects of care to include scoring and coding.
- Participates in meetings applicable to trauma, including hospital, regional, state and training session, as requested.

Job Qualification
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date.
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 5 plus years of registerar experience preferredregistrar

The salary range for this position is $90000.00-$145000.00/year.
