Job Description
Prepares and cooks food for patients, cafeteria and hospital functions. Sets up hot food serving tables.
Job Responsibility
- * Prepares soups, sauces, meats, fish, vegetables, salads and convenience foods for patient and cafeteria.
- * Removes food such as: meats, vegetables, etc from refrigerator and freezers according to the amounts needed for each meal and when necessary.
- * Defrosts food following procedures.
- * Prepares the food for cooking and seasons it correctly.
- * Prepares the right amount of food as based upon production sheets and cafeteria usage.
- * Uses a variety of kitchen utensils such as knives, food cutters, blenders, slicers, mixers, grinders, etc in a safe and efficient manner.
- * Works in a neat, clean and organized manner.
- * Places the food in appropriate cooking pans and cooks according to recipe.Cooks food in small batches.
- * Observes and tastes food being cooked to assure good quality.Tests food being cooked by tasting, smelling and piercing with a fork.
- * Cooks food to correct temperature and takes food temperature during various stages of food preparation.
- * Follows infection control standards.Wears hairnet and gloves.
- * Utilizes leftovers appropriately and suggests menu or recipe changes so that foods will be used before spoiling
- * Utilizes separate cutting boards for poultry and meat, raw and cooked food.
- * Sets up hot food and serving tables.Sets temperature in steam tables to appropriate setting.Sets up hot food at assembly line and ensures correct food temperatures.
- * Serves food, following portion control guidelinesRemoves unused food from serving table and warmers.Determines whether to discard or store food.
- * Wraps, labels, and dates stored food.Handles late requests for food in a timely fashion.
- Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Cooking school training, preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years cooking experience in a hospital setting, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.

The salary range for this position is $31.8718-$34.1108/hour
