Job Description
Leads and guides Audiology Assistants in the performance of duties. Performs all functions of a Audiology Assistant.
Job Responsibility
- Participates in orientation and ongoing training of staff.
- Assists in prioritizing and assigning work based on workflow fluctuations.
- Handles and/or acts as a resource for difficult or complex issues.
- Maintains related department supply and equipment inventory.
- Performs all functions of a Audiology Assistant.
- Performs hearing screening under the supervision of an audiologist.
- Demonstrates proper use of (OAE) test equipment, including calibration.
- Records test results and demographic information in logbook, progress notes and discharge summary for inpatients.
- Enters data into database for Newborn hearing screens.
- Calls and follows-up with parents(s) of fail/missed babies for screening appointments.
- Distributes appropriate pamphlet with result of screening to parents.
- Tracks all fail/missed newborns, and sends progress note to Medical records when appropriate.
- Conducts hearing aid fittings to instruct patients on care and use of their hearing aids or their assistive listen devices and documents.
- Dispenses hearing aid product to patients.
- Assists in the ordering and maintains inventory of hearing aid supplies.
- Provides hearing aid checks and repairs services to inpatients.
- Returns hearing aids to appropriate companies within their guidelines for maximum credit reimbursement.
- Assists in oversight and monitoring of billing for hearing aids/hearing aid supplies. Checks statements sent from vendors against invoice received. Acts as liaison with Patient Account staff to investigate any billing issues.
- Assists patient and staff in obtaining itemized bills of Audiology services provided to ensure reimbursement.
- Handles Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) billing in compliance with regulations and helps patients to obtain coverage when appropriate.
- Monitors treatment environment for safety.
- Considers appropriate psychosocial aspects of care.
- Performs related duties, as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires exertion in excess of 20 lb. force occasionally. Physical activity requires balance, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and lifting performed in combination on an occasional basis. Auditory, visual and articulation skills to communicate in a clear manner.
Job Qualification
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Audiology Assistant.

The salary range for this position is $27.02-$29.00/hour.
