Job Description
Performs a variety of duties related to obtaining two-dimensional cardiac images from patients using high frequency sound/echocardiograph doppler studies. Performs related ancillary duties.
Job Responsibility
1.Prepares patient for test by briefly explaining test and placing transducer on patient’s chest using gel to form airtight seal.
2.Enters and reviews pertinent information in electronic medical record.
3.Runs test, adjusts apparatus controls per protocol, and identifies when ultrasound enhancing agents are needed.
4.Obtains two-dimensional cardiac images from patient using high frequency sound/echocardiograph doppler studies.
5.Prepares written preliminary diagnostic summary for review by and discussion with physician.
6.Types echocardiogram (m-mode + two-dimensional) report, makes copies, delivers and/or mails reports to referring physician or hospital chart.
7.Provides imaging assistance to Cardiologist during procedures, as needed.
8.Transports echocardiogram equipment weighing over fifty (50) pounds to patient units to run tests.
9.Performs routine maintenance, cleaning and disinfection on department equipment, as needed.
10.Performs ancillary duties, including but not limited to, answering phones, receiving/transmitting messages, scheduling appointments, coordinating and facilitating patient transport, burning/copying imaging CDs, and filing/maintaining related records.
11.Performs related duties, as required.
Job Qualification
Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound OR Diagnostic Echocardiography program, required.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), required.
Prior related experience performing ultrasound exams, required. Experience in cardiac sonography, preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology and physics, required.
Ability to communicate effectively, preferred.
Hospital experience, preferred.
Per diem role, variable, no benefits.

The salary range for this position is $67.39-$67.39/hour.
