Food Service Assistant
Food service assistants perform several tasks relating to the preparation and service of food, delivery and collection of food and supplies, appropriate operation of machinery and sanitation of specific areas of the department.
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
Following a food service assistant, you may look to transition to a cook by advancing your hospitality skills and gaining additional culinary experience.
Cook
Cooks prepare and cook food for patients, employees and guests. They also maintain a sanitary environment and assist the chef, as needed.
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
As you look to move forward in your career path from a cook to a chef de partie, you can pursue a culinary or relevant degree by utilizing Northwell’s tuition reimbursement program. Chef de Partie
The chef de partie prepares and specializes in the preparation of a specific food group. This includes various meat, fish, produce and desserts.

- Requires three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience.
