Job Description
Plans and organizes the public relations efforts to elevate the health system externally. Supports external communication efforts such as written content, videos, podcasts and other multimedia.
Job Responsibility
- Directs, develops, implements, and evaluates executive brand-management strategy by crafting thought leadership content for Northwell’s executives and clinicians.
- Collaborates on keynote speeches and presentations including the development of op-eds and other written content.
- Oversees all digital content for Northwell’s Public Relations team, including the writing, editing, optimization and distribution of press releases.
- Reviews all content published in Northwell’s Newsroom, including news articles, media coverage, thought leadership and feature stories.
- Uses data insights, develop effective content that follows journalistic standards and built to perform on various digital platforms
- Assists with multimedia creation, including videos and podcasts.
- Helps grow Northwell’s digital presence through content and influencer outreach.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 5 – 7 years of relevant experience, required.

- Contribute to the strategic management of Northwell Health’s digital newsroom, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s brand standards and public relations goals.
- Manage the layout, functionality, and user experience of the newsroom to ensure accessibility, clarity, and engagement.
- Monitor and ensure consistency across all newsroom sections, maintaining a professional and cohesive design that enhances Northwell Health’s public image.
- Execute daily content updates, including the publication of press releases, op-eds, feature stories, and multimedia content such as photos, videos and podcasts.
- Ensure all content is current, factually accurate, and reflects the latest developments within the organization.
- Review and edit all written content for clarity, grammar, accuracy and adherence to Northwell Health’s brand voice and editorial guidelines.
- Ensure consistency in messaging across all newsroom articles, press releases, and digital content.
- Verify factual accuracy and ensure medical terminology is presented clearly for public understanding while maintaining professionalism.
- Manage editorial calendars and content timelines to ensure the newsroom remains dynamic and reflective of ongoing initiatives.
- Coordinate with Media Relations
- Collaborate closely with the media relations team to distribute key announcements
- Oversee the collection, organization, and archiving of multimedia assets, including photos, videos, and graphics, for use across press materials and digital platforms.
- Ensure proper tagging, version control, and accessibility for approved users.
- Ensure all assets meet Northwell Health’s quality standards and support brand consistency.
- Manage the process of obtaining and filing photo and video consent forms for all individuals featured in multimedia content.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and Northwell Health’s internal privacy policies.
- Edit and enhance photos for use in press releases, feature stories, and other media materials using professional editing software.
- Ensure photos align with Northwell Health’s visual standards, including proper color correction, cropping, and resolution adjustments for both print and digital use.
- Maintain a high standard of visual storytelling to enhance the impact of news stories and announcements.
- Content Creation
- Develop engaging and informative articles that align with Northwell Health’s communication strategy.
- Tailor content to meet key objectives, including:
- Timeliness/News Value
- SEO Opportunities: Identify and integrate high-performing keywords to boost search visibility.
- Media Relations Priorities: Craft content that supports press initiatives and media coverage goals.
- Marketing/Mission Support
- Campaigns: Develop content supporting system-wide initiatives and public health campaigns.
- Expert Spotlights: Create expert-driven content that highlights Northwell’s thought leaders, aligning with campaigns or specific marketing needs.
- Increase organic traffic
- Implement SEO best practices across all newsroom content, including keyword research, meta descriptions, and header optimization.
- Use tools like SEMRush to track keyword performance and optimize articles to improve search engine rankings and visibility.
- Monitor and adjust content strategies based on SEO performance metrics to drive increased organic traffic to the newsroom.

The salary range for this position is $75,020-$126,250/year
