Job Description
Plans, organizes, and directs the staff and activities of the clinical value analysis team in product standardization, substitution and utilization initiatives. Performs functions necessary to support the clinical value analysis function for organization. Collaborates in the development of clinical and business case analysis requests for new clinical products to ensure a controlled introduction of safe, high quality and cost effective products and services.
Job Qualification
- Master’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 15+ years of relevant experience and 5+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
Job Responsibility
- Contributes through a combination of key technical expertise and technical/process leadership that regularly provides enterprise level guidance to team members. Develops and monitors strategic operating goals, objectives and budget; reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action; provides clinical and strategic expertise that facilitates supply expense management while continuously improving all processes that support patient care, education, and research.
- Decreases product/service expenditures by promoting the selection of the most effective and economical quality product/service based on trial and/or evaluation methods that are fact based; monitors cost performance measures to analyze and understand underlying cost drivers in product/ service expenditures; guides VAT team members and chairpersons relative to value analysis processes; facilitates discussions in VAT meetings; coordinates products/services evaluation and trials to assure the proper use of products, use of appropriate evaluation criteria, documentation of evaluation outcome, and consultation of necessary personnel (e.g. physicians, infection control, biomedical engineering).
- Acts as project sponsor on value analysis investigations where appropriate; interacts with physicians, clinicians, and allied health professionals to determine need and initiate supply/service evaluation process; collaborates with evaluators and suppliers to obtain necessary products/services for evaluation as needed.
- Ensures written summary/cost analysis and recommendation relative to evaluated product/service; participates in contract negotiations with vendors; participates in the planning of implementation of approved product/service conversions.
- Coordinates with the leadership to set strategy and agendas; streamlines new product evaluation and introduction processes to maximize clinical customer satisfaction; identifies the need for VAT to interact with all applicable departments to assure safety, regulatory and epidemiology issues are addressed prior to product selection.
- Collaborates with supply chain management, business owners and the RMO to develop and implement a plan to monitor outcomes as related to products standardization; interacts with applicable departments to assure all safety, regulatory and epidemiology issues are addressed prior to product selection; ensures a written summary/cost analysis and recommendation relative to evaluated product/service.
- Serves as an Information Resource; assists with identifying data/information requirements for Value Analysis initiative; investigates new or alternative products/ services based on observations, product issues, excessive costs, requests from user groups.
- Collaborates with user groups and suppliers to develop product specifications and to determine availability and potential use of standard or custom supplies; collaborates with Finance colleagues in determining impact of product/service selections on revenue and accounting cycles; ensures operating compliance with government and agency regulations; stays current on technology, regulatory and operational trends in the health care industry which may impact product/service utilization.
- Provides benchmarking expertise and information; coordinates implementation of educational activities related to product utilization with appropriate departments and physicians; works with team to achieve supply expense reduction targets established for the Supply Chain Cost Reduction Initiative.

The salary range for this position is $112,800-$197,200/year
