Job Description
Manages, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of support staff of Recreational Therapy Services including the planning, implementing and coordinating of activities and interventions for the development, maintenance and expression of appropriate social and leisure lifestyles of patients admitted to the Unit. Evaluates the performance of the Recreational Therapy staff.
Job Responsibility
- Provides leadership to Recreational Therapy team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
- Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.
- Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates the scheduling of inpatient services for Recreational Therapy patients.
- Assists in the formation of an annual budget for personnel, equipment and supplies.
- Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Recommends and develops clinical programs consistent with the mission of the department.
- Plans and provides leisure educational activities; assists the patient in acquiring the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for independent leisure and social activities; adjustment in community; decision-making ability, and appropriate use of free time.
- Monitors and improves productivity of services to ensure quality of care.
- Maintains all Recreational Therapy department statistics.
- Makes periodic inspections of equipment /supplies; identifies malfunctions and initiates repairs.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Current Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience and 2-5 years of leadership / management experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $62,250-$100,130/year
